Price appointed new president of the Atlantic Canada Airports Association
For immediate release
(GOOSE BAY) Wednesday, June 23rd, 2021 – Goronwy Price, chief executive officer and general manager of Goose Bay Airport Corporation, has been appointed the new president of the Atlantic Canada Airports Association (ACAA). The ACAA is an industry association that speaks on behalf of thirteen airports in the Atlantic region and collaborates to promote the region and grow air access.
“It’s been a challenging 16 months and Goronwy’s leadership and collaborative style will help our region’s airports work together to recover,”
said Monette Pasher, executive director of the ACAA.
Price joined Goose Bay Airport in 2007 following two decades of senior management positions primarily in tourism and recreation. He has served as an ACAA director for over a decade and led the Goose Bay Airport Corporation through substantial growth and infrastructure development over the past 14 years.
“We’re very pleased that Goronwy has taken on this volunteer role of president,” says Pasher. “He has a wealth of knowledge of airports and is passionate about the importance of Atlantic Canada’s air transportation network. We look forward to his leadership and guidance as we navigate the recovery of our sector.”
Price takes on his new role at a time when air travel is just beginning to reopen in Atlantic Canada.
“There are a lot of opportunities in front of us, but it will take collaboration with many partners. It is important to remember that airports in our region have dealt with unprecedented financial challenges due to the loss of revenues associated with the negative impact of COVID-19,” says Price. “With the financial support of government partners, we can turn our attention to helping our air carrier partners rebuild this network.”
“Airports need to collaborate and work together more than ever before and that is a big role that the ACAA plays.”
As the new president of the association, an immediate priority for Price is continuing the dialogue with federal government and Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency for the roll out of funding support committed in the Fall Economic Statement.
Also elected to the Board is Johanne Gallant, president and chief executive officer of Fredericton International Airport as Vice President and Doug Newson, president and chief executive officer of Charlottetown Airport as Treasurer. Rounding out the Board of Directors is Peter Avery, president and chief executive officer St. John’s International Airport; Mike MacKinnon, president and chief executive officer J.A. Douglas McCurdy Sydney Airport; Bernard LeBlanc, president and chief executive officer Romeo LeBlanc Greater Moncton International Airport; and Joyce Carter, president and chief executive officer, Halifax Stanfield International Airport.
