CALL FOR PROPOSALS

Overview

The Atlantic Canada Airports Association (ACAA) Board of Directors is looking for a Company (Individual or Team) to work with industry members to establish a strategy and set the direction for ACAA to support the achievement of that strategy.

ACAA will be the voice of Atlantic Canada’s airports, and will work to influence government initiatives, policies, legislation, and regulations that support safe, secure and competitive air transportation system.

The Company will maintain critical liaison with the Association’s members, government agencies, departments, and representatives from other industries, and work closely and collaboratively with the national airport council to align policy goals and strategic direction to support efforts in Atlantic Canada.

The Company will lead the organization in carrying out business development programs or initiatives as guided by the Board of Directors.

It is anticipated that the Company’s effort would be in area of 60-70 % of a full-time equivalent position.


Primary Responsibilities

Strengthening ACAA Advocacy Efforts and Regional Public Profile

  • Maintain ACAA’s presence in Ottawa through attendance at key events and discussions with key officials in political and government offices.
  • Work closely with all members to ensure a coordinated effort for voicing and acting upon ACAA positions and issues.
  • Collect data and information from members and others for use to support policy positions and advocacy efforts in Atlantic Canada.
  • Liaise with members to collaborate and communicate with the four Provincial Government’s on key issues, as well as Atlantic Canada federal government officials.
  • Build and sustain strategic partnerships with key public servants, senior government officials, industry, and other airport interests to achieve key priorities.
  •  Identify and develop key strategic alliances with other organizations to advance ACAA’s strategy or strengthen its position on an issue as required.
  • Continue to enhance and solidify relationships with other sector associations, airlines, national, provincial, and international organizations, and all government stakeholders.
  •  Act as a spokesperson, amplifying the Association’s reputation respectful, and authoritative voice to government, the media, partners, and the public.

 

Engaging Members Through Effective Collaboration

  • Develop strategies to engage with all members both large and small in the work of the Association.
  • Empower members to be prepared for political changes, such as elections and policy changes.
  • Advise members on government relations practices and strategies.
  • Facilitate membership consensus on matters of common interest (through strategic planning and on ad hoc basis, as required).
  • Provide regular and timely updates to members on matters of importance.

 

Providing Strategic and Administrative Leadership

  • Create and execute upon a compelling vision and strategy for ACAA that inspires all members.
  • Develop a clear list of priorities for ACAA to be pursued annually.
  • For key activities, develop a plan that defines goals, targets decision-makers, refines a message, and identifies potential allies and opponents who can affect the decision-making process.
  • Create a healthy culture of shared leadership, joint learning and collaboration.
  • Organize 3-year strategic planning sessions to update strategic priorities and to ensure that the work of the Association is focused on the priorities of members.
  • Plan and manage ACAA’s budget and joint business development activities including trade shows and networking events.
  • Facilitate projects that are in the best interest of the membership. Execute and report on those projects.
  • Facilitate the organization and execution of bi-annual conference for Atlantic Canada’s Airports working in partnership with rotating host airport.

 

Provide Day to Day and Project Accounting Services

  • Maintain the day-to-day Invoicing, accounts payable and receivable.
  • Ensure project funding is accounted and reports are summitted in the appropriate format for the supporting agency.
  • Facilitate the end of year auditing process for the organization.

 

Ideal Background

  • Minimum 10 years of experience working with an association and/or performing a government relations function.
  • Media relations experience and established relationships with industry members and media outlets.
